Viral TikTok Seitan Chicken Recipe

After you’ve kneaded the dough, let it rest and massage out the starch; season the dough and let it marinate.
A real science experiment turned into dinner! This recipe makes me think, “why even eat meat?”
I decided to chop up the “chicken” and assemble a rice bowl with lentils. Next time, I’m making a chicken sammich.
Ingredients:
Three cups of flour
One cup of water
Choice of seasonings
Tbsp olive oil
Chopped herb for garnish (I used cilantro)
Directions:
In a bowl mix flour and water together. Knead until it forms a smooth dough.
Submerge dough in cold water, cover with a lid & let it sit for about an hour.
Remove lid & knead the dough for one to two minutes.
Take the dough to the sink & rinse several times until the water runs almost clear.
Pat dough dry & season. Form “chicken” into patty size.
In a pan, add oil over medium-high heat. When the oil is hot, add dough and pan fry for approx. five minutes on each side until golden brown.
Remove from heat and serve with your favorite sides! Enjoy!
